O Antiphons: An Inspiring Musical Alternative to Your Advent Concert or Lessons

Inspired by the work of Grammy-winning choral ensemble Conspirare, this annual and well-loved contemplative Advent musical offering at St Louis Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, is an alternative to Advent concerts or the traditional Lessons and Carols.

Echoing a “collage” style of programming-readings, poetry, solos, and choral music are woven seamlessly together to reflect the sequence of the O Antiphons. Now in its 7th year, this chapel-filling musical offering is a highlight in the Advent season of the St. Louis musical community. This webinar will offer creative and practical ideas to bring this program to your parochial school.

Rick Gabrillo, former Director of Sacred Music at St. Louis and creator of the O Antiphons series, will lead this webinar and present the history of the O Antiphons musical offerings, as well as the thought process and inspiration which guides the programming each year. Examples from past offerings will be presented and analyzed.
