Anna Doering

Anna Doering is the Director of Choirs at Christa McAuliffe Middle School and John Glenn High School in Bay City, MI, where she conducts five choirs. She is the music director for three annual school musicals, and, under her direction, her students have won three state titles at One Act Theatre State Festival hosted by the Michigan Interscholastic Forensics Association. Anna’s students are also frequently chosen to compete in the Sutton Foster Awards. In addition, she directs Vocalise Youth Honor Choir at the Midland Center for the Arts, which welcomes students in 3rd-8th grades from throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Anna is an active member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association. Her students participate in district and state Solo & Ensemble and Choir Festivals, routinely receiving division one ratings. Anna’s choirs regularly perform at nursing homes and the local Minor League Baseball stadium, and collaborate with other music groups, including Three Men and a Tenor. She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment for all students in the choir classroom and fostering a life-long appreciation of and support for the arts.  

She is an active vocal performer in the Great Lakes Bay Region - singing with the community chamber choir and local octet. Anna started cantoring in 7th grade and continues to cantor and sacristan at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Midland, MI. During her undergraduate studies, Anna was a Music Ministry Intern and then Interim Music Director at St. John’s Catholic Church and Student Center in East Lansing, MI. Anna holds a Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Choral Conducting, both from Michigan State University.
