Dr. Richard Robbins

DR. RICHARD ROBBINS serves as the director of choral activities and artist-in-residence at Shenandoah Conservatory. With a wealth of experience working with young voices, he has directed choirs at Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, the Lake Superior Youth Chorus, and the Houston Boychoir. Dr. Robbins has shared his expertise on various topics concerning young singers at conferences for the National Catholic Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association.

Dr. Robbins has conducted and delivered lectures on choral music and Catholic liturgy in Poland, collaborating with institutions including the Krakow Academy of Music, Chopin Conservatory, and the John Paul II Liturgical Institute. His international work also extends to residencies with the Fayha National Choir of Lebanon. As a church musician, he has held positions as a choir director at the Cathedral of Christ the King (Wisconsin) and the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (Houston). Additionally, he has served as the director of the St. Paul’s Choral Scholars, a professional sacred youth chorus in Houston. His published research primarily focuses on the music and liturgy of the Italian Counter-Reformation.
